Hallways are awkward spots in our homes, both overlooked and undervalued —they’re weird in-between places that we pass through multiple times daily, but we don’t actually spend a lot of time there. What they don’t have to be is a waste of space. With a little time and effort they can be storage powerhouses.




Who says you can’t have built-ins in the hallway? These simple unfinished ones (lead image above) from Hajattamolla fit perfectly in the space and seriously amp up the storage without feeling overwhelming.



Additionally, they make for great seating and shelving for your houseplants. Happy Interior Blog shared this hallway from 91 magazine. They used IKEA shoe cabinets, which have a very low profile, for extra storage.




A narrow picture ledge was hung in this blue hallway from Callwey. It adds a place to keep little things, without making the space feel claustrophobic.
